Strongest MCU characters ever featured

Ever since the re-reboot of The Incredible Hulk starring Edward Norton, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has released 23 films, not counting movies produced by Fox. And in the span of 12 years, the MCU has featured some of the strongest heroes and villains in all of Marvel. Of course, their power levels may have slightly differed from comic book versions, but their strength cannot be understated. Here are some of the strongest MCU characters ever featured in the films. Hela

In all of the MCU, Hela played by Cate Blanchett, was the only villain that was not defeated by the movie’s protagonist. She was able to defeat Thor and Loki singlehandedly, destroying Thor’s hammer in the process. She is so powerful, she could only be defeated by destroying Asgard itself.

Dormamu

Dormamu didn’t get a lot of screen time compared to most MCU villains as Doctor Strange mainly focused on Kaecilius as the movie’s antagonist. But based on the many ways we’ve seen Dormamu kill off Doctor Strange, we’d be foolish not to recognize his power at manipulating matter in his dimension. Joe Cianciotto.

Ego

Played by Kurt Russell, it was only later on in the Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 that was revealed that Ego was in fact an entire planet. The Malicious planet while strong on its own grounds, has shown that it is capable of destroying other planets with ease.

Thanos

The mad titan himself, Thanos has been the strongest MCU villain so far. Able to go toe-to-toe with the Hulk in a brawl, Thanos shows just how powerful and skilled he is in the art of combat. Even without wielding a single Infinity Stone, Thanos was able to hold his own against Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man all at the same time. Joe Cianciotto.

Ranking the top five MCU films to date

Joe Cianciotto. And just like that, the Marvel Cinematic Universe wraps up its Phase 3 with a bang. After "Avengers: Endgame" came and went, leaving record box-office numbers in its wake on its way to becoming the highest-grossing film of all-time, "Spider-Man: Far From Home" capped things off with a heartfelt epilogue.

5. Avengers: Infinity War

Edging out Endgame on this list, many people believed that Infinity War had a tighter story altogether and provided more gravitas to the overall story of the MCU.

4. Spider-Man: Far From Home

Joe Cianciotto. With the split of Disney and Sony, Far From Home will probably be the last time audiences see Spidey in the MCU. If that’s the case, it couldn’t have been a greater exit. Far From Home is the best Spider-Man live-action film in over 10 years.

3. Marvel’s The Avengers

The first Avengers film wasn’t so much a film as it was an event. Much like the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, something of this magnitude had never been done before in cinema history. Joe Cianciotto.

2. Thor Ragnarok

While some of the more traditional fans still balk at how Ragnarok mocks the God of Thunder rather than raise him up to a status worthy of a god, it was far and away the most original of the MCU films. It was also hilarious. Joe Cianciotto.

1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The peak in MCU storytelling, this second Captain America film turns everything and everyone on its head with a twist that had forever changed the MCU. It also deepened many of the main characters’ stories, laying the groundwork for the rest of the existing MCU phases. Joe Cianciotto.

What We Know So Far About 'Captain Marvel'

Moviegoers who were patient enough to watch the post-credit scene of “Avengers: Infinity War” were in for a treat when the ace up Nick Fury’s sleeve turned out to be Captain Marvel. For the initiated (those knowledgeable about Marvel Comics), they know that Captain Marvel is “Marvel’s biggest female hero” and “quite possibly Marvel’s mightiest Avenger.”

Most viewers probably gasped at the aftermath of Thanos’s snap and wondered how what’s left of the Avengers would be able to defeat the Mad Titan, who was mighty enough to wield all six stones infinity at once. With the help of Captain Marvel, their odds of doing so will rise exponentially.

But before we get to see the Avengers battle Thanos again in the unnamed-yet sequel, Captain Marvel and her alter-ego, Carol Danvers (to be played by Brie Larson), will grace the big screen first in March 2019.

Marvel Studios have always been great at keeping things under wrap and preventing big spoilers from coming out prior to their movies’ release dates. However, some details have already been made public, such as the following:

It will be set in the 1980s and 1990s and serve as an origin story, telling of how Danvers gained her superpowers.

Nick Fury, who is portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson, will be in the limelight once more – this time with both eyes still intact. The movie will also show Fury’s first encounter with a superhero.

Fan-favorite Agent Phil Coulson will make his way back to the silver screen. His role will be reprised by Clark Gregg.

Captain Marvel will help protect Earth as the planet will be caught in the center of an intergalactic conflict between Skrulls, a shape-shifting alien race, and Krees, a militaristic alien race that was first introduced in the MCU in “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

The film is currently in principal photography and already halfway completed.

Although movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or MCU, have been much favorably received compared to those of the DC Expanded Universe, or DCEU, it has to be noted that not all MCU films are created equally. Let’s take a look at fans-approved MCU movies.

Marvel’s The Avengers

The first Avengers movie was more of an event than a film. It was a production that had never been done before, with several superheroes having their own feature films leading up to this one. The final result was an amazingly good time. Joss Whedon expertly blended fast-paced action with his own brand of humor to come up with the climax of MCU’s Phase One.

Captain America: Winter Soldier

The second installment of the Captain America film series wasn’t only the best of the series, it was one of the greatest superhero films ever crafted. The Russo Brothers succeeded in making a movie that was great as a stand-alone movie but also had very far-reaching consequences as far as the entire MCU goes.

Thor: Ragnarok

The third Thor movie had more of a “Guardians of the Galaxy” vibe than any other MCU movie that wasn’t “Guardians of the Galaxy.” “Thor: Ragnarok” was the most fun fans ever had in a movie theater in ages, and the jokes were simply brilliant. This was definitely one of the best 2017 films had to offer, across all genres.
