No smash: Why the Hulk is better as part of a team

It seems as if the role of Bruce banner aka The Hulk only goes to ingenious actors. Edward Norton, Eric Bana, and Mark Ruffalo are amazing actors that deserve only the best roles. However, with the challenging character that is The Hulk, it seems as if even the best ones fail at delivering a critically acclaimed performance. Even with Ang Lee at the helm, the film failed to become a smash hit.

First of all, I think the reason for this is because The Hulk is more of a psychological drama rather than an action-packed story. Going into the mind of Bruce Banner might not spell fun for the younger audiences especially since there are other characters that seem to have better storylines.

Another reason why I think the Hulk is better as part of a team is because his fellow Avengers highlights his best points. Without banter with Tony Stark or sensual chemistry with the Black Widow, viewers will not see his human side. Through teamwork, viewers will appreciate him more as a crucial part of the team not just because he smashes things as the Hulk but because Bruce Banner can actually make things happen with his genius.
